Nach erfolgreichem Abschluß des Studiums möchte die junge Muffy St.John im Haus ihrer Eltern den Spring Break (und gleichzeitig 1.April) feiern, nachdem sie die meisten das ganze Jahr nicht gesehen hat. Das Haus liegt auf einer Insel vor der Küste und kann nur durch eine Fähre erreicht werden. Nach der Anreise am Vortag wird die eigene Feier jedoch schon bald durch das Verschwinden eines Gastes getrübt und dessen Freundin Kit (Amy Steel) behauptet, seine Leiche gesehen zu haben, ohne daß diese aufzufinden wäre. Bald verschwinden die nächsten Gäste und die Gastgeberin scheint sich seltsamerweise auch noch darüber zu freuen? Geht ein Killer auf der Insel um und wer könnte es sein. Oder ist alles vielleicht nur ein großer, grober Aprilscherz? Ohne Verbindung zur Außenwelt nimmt die Panik zu.
