A Firenze, mentre la peste nera continua a mietere vittime, il perfido Gerbino de la Ratta cerca di trarre vantaggio dalla morte dei genitori di Pampinea Anastagi per portarla all'altare e farla sua sebbene sia già stata promessa in sposa al conte Dzerzhinsky. Decisa a tener fede alla parola data al padre, la giovane spedisce un gruppo di amici alla villa di campagna dove verranno celebrate le nozze e a insaputa di tutti si rifugia in un convento per preservare la verginità in attesa dello sposo in arrivo dalla Russia. Pampinea però non sa che nello stesso convento è nascosto anche Lorenzo de Lamberti, fuggito dalla spada di de la Ratta e celato dietro il silenzio, la sordità e le vesti di giardiniere tuttofare e latin lover. Ispiratosi liberamente al Decameron di Boccaccio, David Leland mescola sacro e profano, XIV secolo e Nuovo Millennio per mettere in scena una commedia (sexy) in costume vagamente sboccata e alquanto anacronistica.
